10 Korean delegates from Brunei and Republic of Korea (YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAMME, 2014) visited Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology, on the 8th of May from 10.45 to 12.30 pm. The objective behind this visit is to know about the Korean club activities within the college. During the visit, Cikgu Ismah, Principal of CCCT, gave a short briefing about Cosmopolitan College followed by a college tour by the student council members.
Ms Hawa, facilitator of the Korean club along with the student council members and the Korean club students, helped to facilitate the visit by arranging some ice breaking activities and games that were conducted for the delegates. One of the dance performance by our students was encouraged by the delegates joining the dance .They were introduced to the Brunei customs and traditions, Brunei food and also Brunei songs.
As, Mr Choi Changhaeng, Director of Ministry of Gender Equality and Family was quite impressed during this visit, in return,he has invited our college to visit South Korea. Jabatan Belia dan Sukan has also acknowledged Cosmopolitan College, by giving a Certificate of Appreciation for handling this event.
A token of appreciation was exchanged between the Head of the Korean delegates and the facilitator of the Korean club, followed by a photo taking session. A delicious Brunei lunch was then served to them.
Over all, it was an overwhelming event.
This month of April served as a rewarding time for the Diploma Business and IT students of Cosmopolitan College as they were engaged in numerous activities such as attending an educational visit to the Orchid Garden Hotel on April 9 and 16, viewing the Art & Design Exhibition at the University of Brunei Darussalam and visiting the UBD Library on April 23, 2014.
The Faculty of Language and Communication of the college has arranged these visits to instill within the students a sense of responsibility, to enhance communication, to teach self-discipline, and to form camaraderie.
According to the Faculty Leader, Anjana Nambiar, “It is very essential to expose these students to know what is practically going on in different industries in Brunei. This will make them understand and appreciate what they are learning inside the classroom. Furthermore, one day, these students will graduate and get employed. The college aims to equip them with skills that they will need to become better individuals in their chosen career.”
Altogether, there were 46 Diploma students who participated in the said activities. The college has lined up several activities for this semester and hope that this term will be worthwhile and truly rewarding for these students.
Taking back in time in 1941, Brunei, our very own country, started their formal education. To this day, it marks its 100 years of existence. Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology celebrated the same by having a religious ceremony that was held at the Dewan Mahligai hall (Airport Mall) on Saturday, 11th January 2013. About 400 students, excluding lecturers and administrators attended the ceremony.
This ceremony is to pay respect towards the formal education system that is ongoing since 100 years. The recital of the Ratib Al-Attas and Doa Kesyukuran was performed during the ceremony.
Congratulations to Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology for another win from the Brunei Polytechnic Futsal Tournament 2013. Facing the championship court last Sunday, 27th October 2013, were Cosmopolitan College and UBD C, comprising of 10 players for each team with the score of 6 points to 0. The team managed to score the championship cup consisting of a winning trophy and B $300 cash money.
Indeed the college’s team has improved their performance, they’ve manage to complete 3 tournaments this year wherein 2 of which manage to earn the team a rank. The college wishes to encourage the team to keep doing what they do best and continue to bring pride to the college and the country.
Kicking off the school term holiday, was the Futsal team of Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology. The team comprising of ten students, bagged 2nd place for the Futsal Championship in commemoration of the University of Brunei Darussalam Convocation Festival 2013.
From 4th place last year, the college’s team managed to accelerate it’s rank to 2nd place, which made every hard work and effort all worth it. The tournament actually started on 30th September 2013 with 32 teams competing for the play off sections. Last night, the tournament was down to two teams, Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology versus the Institute of Technology in Brunei.
The game approximately started around 8:30pm in the University of Brunei Darussalam Sports Complex, with Cosmopolitan College leading on the first half of the game. The Institute of Technology in Brunei managed to regain the game by scoring another goal, during the second half, which made them bag the championship title with only one point difference. The match ended with the Institute of Technology in Brunei garnering 2 points and Cosmopolitan College garnering 1 point.
The winning team was awarded with a cash prize of $300 and a trophy while the second place got $200 cash prize and a trophy.
