15th Convocation Ceremony of Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology

COSMO towards Driving Digital Innovation 

396 graduates will be moving to the next step in their career aspirations taking the total number of graduates of COSMO to more than 3750 since its inception in 2004.  These are from courses in Business, Information Technology and Creative Media. 

Guest of Honor during the event was Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Paduka Dr. Hajah Romaizah Binti Haji Md Salleh, Minister of Education, Negara Brunei Darussalam. 

Dr. Aziz Latip, Executive Chairman of Cosmopolitan College expressed his deepest appreciation to Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Paduka Dr. Hajah Romaizah for her presence at this memorable event for the students and parents. 

 

Dr Aziz also mentioned in his speech that “I am certain that the Ministry of Education with the able leadership of Yang Berhormat Datin will accelerate the progress towards further transformation of education in the country. It’s my duty to pledge our support on this initiative as this is our mission too. We stay focused and committed to resolving the unemployment issues in Brunei and to encourage our youth to enter the world of entrepreneurship.” 

 

He also added “On behalf of my COSMO family, CONGRATULATIONS to all the graduating students. We admire your commitment and hard work to wither the tough times during the pandemic to continue your studies through online learning. Pandemic has not slowed our momentum to transform education for the success of our students that translates into the success of our beloved nation.” Dr. Aziz also encouraged the graduates to be more innovative and creative in order to succeed in this environment.  

Syahwan Dani Bin Yahya, Best Student Awardee from HND in Business, expressed his appreciation during his speech “To all my lecturers at COSMO, thank you so much for all the support, guidance, patience and more.  

I Am So Thankful for Being Part Of The Be Job Ready Workshop – Work Study Programme For HND Students, Where We Learned Practical Real Life Industry Skills. This has helped Me In My Current Job At NBT Toyota Brunei.  

Being Surrounded By The Friendly And Approachable Lecturers And Staff Of Cosmo, I Feel More Confident That I Can Achieve My Dreams” 

After the awarding of certificates, students from Business, IT and Creative media showcased their projects to Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Paduka Dr. Hajah Romaizah and other distinguished guests. 

One of the main highlights was the launch of lakastahkerja.com, a COSMO online freelance platform for students to showcase their work portfolios. This includes student creative media projects such as in photography, video animations, 3D modelling, graphic design and more. 

This is in line with our commitment to continuously shape our students to #bejobready. We aim to expand the same for our Business and IT students who aspire to be freelancers.

 

Another booth featured our students who won 2nd Place at the Trash to Treasure Competition 2022 by the Brunei MYCE, Ministry of Development Department of Parks and Recreation. Level 3 Business students created “The Gong” using recycled materials, and they aim to promote recycling and conserve the environment by using less plastics in our daily use.  

Other students showcased photography and videography tricks they use for their classes. IT students also showcased remote access robots which can be used in various industrial and practical applications such as carrying goods, delivery services, transportation, cleaning and more.  

The event ended with a group photo with the Guest of Honour, distinguished guest, Cosmopolitan College team members and the graduates.
