Bandar Ku Ceria: A Fitness and Team Bonding Event at Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology
On February 16, 2025, the staff and facilitators of Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology (COSMO) came together for the Bandar Ku Ceria event, a monthly fitness walking initiative held in Bandar Seri Begawan. This event was designed not only to promote physical health and fitness but also to strengthen team bonds and foster a sense of community among the college’s staff and faculty members.
Bandar Ku Ceria, meaning “My Cheerful Bandar,” was a refreshing opportunity for participants to step away from their busy work schedules and engage in physical activity while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the capital city. The event’s main goal was to encourage regular fitness practices and create a space for colleagues to connect outside of the professional environment, strengthening relationships and enhancing teamwork.
Walking is an excellent form of exercise, offering numerous health benefits, from improved cardiovascular health to reduced stress and anxiety. By organizing this monthly event, COSMO emphasized the importance of maintaining physical health and well-being in a work setting. With the busy nature of daily tasks, it’s easy for employees to overlook their physical needs, but this event reminded participants of the value of making time for their health.
At the same time, Bandar Ku Ceria served as an excellent opportunity for team bonding. As staff and facilitators walked together, they shared meaningful conversations and built personal connections. These interactions created a relaxed atmosphere, fostering trust and camaraderie among colleagues who may not typically engage with one another outside of their professional roles. Such bonding is key to creating a collaborative and positive work environment, where open communication and teamwork are valued.
The Bandar Ku Ceria initiative is a perfect example of how health and fitness can go hand-in-hand with organizational goals. By promoting well-being and encouraging interpersonal relationships, the event helped create a more supportive and motivated team at COSMO. The success of this event is a testament to the power of combining physical activity with social interaction, offering benefits for both individual health and the overall work culture.
As COSMO continues to host these monthly walks, the Bandar Ku Ceria event will undoubtedly remain an important tradition that promotes both personal wellness and strong team dynamics.
