On the 22nd of July, Cosmopolitan College hosted its first Sports Day after the pandemic occurred. Ever since its announcement, it became one of Cosmo’s most anticipated events as it brought together the entire college community for a day of fun and competition.
Amber, Amethyst, Jade, and Sapphire spent weeks training and preparing for this long-awaited event. A variety of sports were included; Basketball, handball, netball, badminton, futsal, tug-of-war, track & field, esports, and chess, as well as a 5-minute marching and performance from each house.
As early as 6:30 am on a beautiful Saturday morning, people were already arriving at Padang dan Belapan Stadium. Everyone was ready dressed in their custom-designed sports attire and by 7 am the stadium was filled with students and staff in yellow, purple, green, and blue. The athletes were stretching, the MCs were preparing as the lecturers were getting ready and the spectators were waiting in anticipation. A hectic start to a hectic day.
and all their flashy moves gave it their all to give a memorable experience, not only for themselves but the audience too. Once they were done, to everyone’s surprise, Cosmopolitan’s Bright Kids came out to perform as well. Out of all the performances, they received the loudest cheers from viewers.
As the opening ceremony concludes, the stadium comes alive with the spirit of competition. Despite only having 2 sports taking place that day, everyone was still highly anticipating for the games to start. First off were track and field races; 100m & 200m sprints and 4x100m relays, for male, female, and lecturer competitors. The stadium fell silent as the MC yelled out “On your marks. Get set. GO!” Each time the houses erupt into excitement and cheered loudly in support of their own team.
As the day progressed, the energy and excitement build up. Finally, the game everyone looked forward to was about to begin, the tug-of-war. Groups of people gathered around, already cheering before the game even started. But when it did start and the whistle was blown, energies
spectators had different expectations for each of the houses however in the end Jade came out victorious, winning overall.

The opening ceremony started off with the marching and performance. Members from each sports house when into their respective positions, getting ready to march down and show off their sportsmanship. One by one, the houses would march down to be front and center of the audience, and after their march would be their performance.
The performances definitely gave everyone a boost of energy that morning. Everyone was cheering and hyped as the music echoed throughout the stadium. The performers skyrocketed. Screams of encouragement and frustration mixed in the air. A look of struggle and determination was plastered on the faces of the competitors as they tug and pull, fighting for their win.
By the time student’s category tug-of-war was done, everyone’s energy has depleted and their vocal cords strained from yelling, yet something kickstarted it once again, an unplanned tug-of-war game amongst the lecturers. Students were elated, getting up off their seats just to go under the sun and watch their beloved lecturers battle each other. And once again, screams and cheers flooded the air. Not only can everyone’s passion and enthusiasm be heard but also be seen. It is during these moments that lasting memories and bonds are forged.
Soon enough it was time for the announcement of the winners and presentation of prizes. While the atmosphere remained fueled with friendly rivalry and competitive spirits, the priority was always on sportsmanship. The participants’ achievements were awarded trophies and certificates, along with acknowledgment from the houses. The come forward and participate. It brings people together, transcends barriers, and fosters a healthy competitive spirit. Beyond the trophies and medals, the memories and friendships made during this event linger long after the day has passed.

It was excellent the fact that everyone participated and there was a lot of sportsmanship, for example, the most hyped game was the lecturer’s tug-of-war, almost every student was there.
