June 5th Visit
Cosmopolitan College conducted a presentation on “Furthering your employability potential program”, on the 5th of June, 2014, at 10.30 a.m. in Dewan Mahligai Hall. The event was held to inform about the practical knowledge, extended to the students, by the college. The college is preparing their learners to face challenges ahead of them by setting up their own business, so that they continue to be employed in the future. The main purpose of the visit is also to present CCCT’s academic and non-academic activities.
Arrived at the ceremony, was the guest of honour,Yang Mulia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yusoff bin Awang Haji Ismail, the Deputy Minister of Ministry of Education. Also present, is the executive chairman of CCCT, Yang Mulia Dr Hj Abd Aziz Bin Hj Latip, the Managing Director of CCCT, Mr. Nandakumar Sanmugam, the director of studies of CCCT, Cikgu Hajah Ismah Besar, senior officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs, BDTVEC, BNAC, the Labor office of Brunei Darussalam, BPS and as well as other industry experts.
The event started with the recitation of Al-Fatihah by the Melayu Islam Beraja lecturer of CCCT, Ak. Khairulanwar, followed by a welcome speech from Yang Mulia Dr Haji Abd Aziz.
The showcase event was lightened up by a presentation on introducing the college background delivered by a lecturer of CCCT, Ak. Khairulanwar. This was later on, followed by four other presentations two of which is from the IT students and two from the business students of CCCT.
They added that the college started in 2004 with only 25 students. Now, they have a total of 1,200 students studying in the college with BPTV scholarships that was granted in September 2011. Cosmopolitan College is offering 8 courses ranging from LCCI to HND. They are in the process of starting informatics courses such as Diploma and Advance Diploma in gaming and animation as well as degree courses for which the MOE has already approved. To this day, 20 locals and 20 expatriates work as lecturers in the college.
The presentations also focused on the challenges they had throughout the years such as difficulty in recruiting lecturers and competition from other private institutions that affect the attachment placement for students.
After the presentation, the guest of honor was invited to visit the exhibition of CCCT’s 11 business registered companies, comprising of BDTVEC Diploma in Business Finance, SC3 Business Administration and SC2 Business Administration. This aims to let the students use the businesses, as a platform for them to understand textbook theories and concepts through practical, which would otherwise be limited to teaching in a classroom environment. Aside from that, the I.T students also showcased their projects that includes website and network development for Bruneian Small Medium Enterprises (SME’S).
Cosmopolitan College is moving forward to help Brunei Darussalam, reduce the rate of unemployment, by striving young potentials in its bid, to give bright future for the students while also contributing to the nation’s vision 2035.
